Terms of Use

Version 1 — 27 August 2026. These terms apply to Fanfold (“the Software”) from version 0.54.2, and to the website at getfanfold.com. They are versioned and dated for the same reason the privacy policy is: a change should be an update you can read, not a promise that quietly stopped being true.

1. License to use

You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software, including at work. The Software is not open source. Copyright in it is reserved in full. Nothing here grants you the right to copy, modify, redistribute, sell, sublicense or reverse engineer it, or to remove or obscure any notice in it.

2. Price, today and later

The Software is free of charge today. Paid tiers may be introduced in the future. If that happens:

• terms published later are not applied retroactively to a version you already have. This is a statement about the terms, not a promise about the software: Chrome updates extensions on its own schedule and a browser change can break an old version, neither of which is in our control;
• any paid feature will be identified as such before you use it;
• these terms will be updated, with a new version number and date, before a paid version ships.

Nothing in these terms is a commitment that the Software, or any part of it, will remain free.

3. Your content

The Software runs entirely on your computer and captures pages you choose. We claim no rights in anything you capture or produce with it, and — this version being one that transmits nothing — none of it reaches the author through the Software in any form. See the privacy policy.

That is a statement about us, not a grant to you: capturing a page does not give you rights in the material on it that you did not already have.

If you email us about a problem, you are choosing to send us what you write and attach. You keep ownership of it. You grant us only what is needed to read it and act on it — to diagnose and fix the problem you are reporting — and nothing else. Do not send material you are not entitled to share.

You are responsible for what you capture. It is your obligation, not the author's, to ensure you have the right to copy, store or share the material on any page you capture, including anything behind a login, and to comply with the terms of the sites you use the Software on.

4. No warranty

The Software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The Software captures web pages, and web pages vary without limit; a capture may be incomplete or may fail. The Software reports when it believes a capture was degraded, but no guarantee is made that every incomplete capture is detected.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of or inability to use the Software. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid for the Software, which for this version is nothing.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusions above; where that is so, they apply to the fullest extent permitted, and your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

6. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. Each update carries a new version number and date, and applies to versions of the Software released after it. Continuing to use a version of the Software you already have does not accept terms published after it.

7. This website

This website is provided as is and without warranty, on the same terms as the Software. It is informational. There is no form on it and no account; support is an email address, offered as a courtesy: there is no service level and no guaranteed response time. We may change or withdraw either at any time.

Do not email us unlawful material, malware, or anyone else's personal information. We may decline to act on a report and may delete it.

The text and design of this site are ours. You may quote it with attribution; do not republish it wholesale.
